ExactBlue EZ Coliform — Single-Test Pouch Kit

Wholesale pouch-format total coliform test for retail, agricultural, and field-screening programs. 10 mL sample, visual color-change readout, no incubator.

How it works

Each single-use pouch contains a chromogenic β-galactosidase substrate. Add a 10 mL water sample, seal, and incubate — a color change indicates total coliform presence at 1 CFU/10 mL.

Detection limits

  • Sensitivity: 0.1 CFU/mL (1 CFU/10 mL)
  • Sample volume: 10 mL
  • Time to result: 8–24 hours

Applications

  • Retail and grocery water-quality checks
  • Agricultural irrigation water
  • Private well and source water
  • Distributor pouch-format programs

Key features

  • Single-use pouch — no glassware or vials
  • Aligned with Standard Methods 9221
  • Color-coded visual readout
  • Manufactured in Canada under ISO 9001

How it works

EZ Coliform is the pouch-format version of AquaVial COLI / EX Coliform — chromogenic β-galactosidase chemistry pre-loaded in a 10 mL volume. Designed for single-use screening at 1 CFU/10 mL (≈0.1 CFU/mL).

1

Collect 10 mL water sample for testing and add it to test vial

2

Incubate

3

Incubate at recommended temp for the listed time

4

Read by visible color change; positive triggers retest/action

Comparison

vs. traditional lab testing

Traditional method

Membrane filtration lab culture (ISO 9308-1 / Standard Methods 9221)

Off-site, multi-day turnaround. Requires lab account, membrane filtration manifold, and qualified microbiology technician. Per-test cost from $40–$120 plus shipping.

With ExactBlue

On-site, same-day result

Cheap one-use format ($8 distributor) — pass / fail in 8-24 hr without a lab.

Detection chemistry

How it detects

β-galactosidase (10 mL sample volume)

Detects coliforms through enzyme-mediated color change. Galactosidase activity hydrolyzes the chromogenic substrate, producing a visible color shift proportional to bacterial concentration.
