AquaVial Safe Check — 24-Hour In-Office Dental Waterline Test

Wholesale 24-hour DUWL test for dental practices and distributors who prefer an overnight chromogenic workflow. CDC-aligned screening with no incubator required.

How it works

The kit uses a chromogenic dye that selectively responds to bacterial growth. Collect the dental waterline sample, add to the vial, and read after 24 hours at normal room temperature — a color change indicates the 500 CFU/mL action threshold has been exceeded.

Detection limits

  • Action threshold: 500 CFU/mL (CDC DUWL guideline)
  • Incubation: 24 hours at 20–30°C ambient — no incubator needed

Applications

  • Dental unit waterline compliance testing
  • Routine in-office monitoring programs
  • DSO multi-site QA
  • Pre/post-shock verification

Key features

  • Meets CDC DUWL ≤500 CFU/mL guideline
  • 24-hour result at room temperature
  • Chromogenic dye, no instrument required
  • Color-coded visual readout
  • Manufactured in Canada under ISO 9001

How it works

Safe Check uses a chromogenic dye that responds to bacterial activity over 24 hours at room temperature (20-30°C). No incubator is needed — leave the vial overnight on the operatory counter. A visible color change indicates ≥500 CFU/mL, the CDC dental waterline action threshold.

1

Collect 5-20 mL water sample from each dental unit waterline

2

Add sample directly into Safe Check vial

3

Incubate at room temperature (20-30°C) for 24 hours

4

Read color change; positive = >500 CFU/mL, schedule shock + retest

Detection limits

AStandard: 5 mL sample, 24 hr @ 20-30°C → 500 CFU/mL action threshold

Comparison

vs. traditional lab testing

Traditional method

Membrane filtration lab culture (ISO 9215 R2A media (7 day incubation))

Off-site, multi-day turnaround. Requires lab account, membrane filtration manifold, and qualified microbiology technician. Per-test cost from $40–$120 plus shipping.

With ExactBlue

On-site, same-day result

Result the next morning without sending samples out. No incubator. Pass/fail at the CDC action threshold.

Detection chemistry

How it detects

Visual color change

Disposable test vial reacts with bacterial enzymes to produce a visible color change correlated with contamination level.
