AquaVial Quick Check — 15-Minute Dental Unit Waterline Test

Wholesale dental-waterline test kit for DSOs, distributors, and clinical purchasing managers. CDC DUWL compliance screening in 15 minutes, chairside, no incubator required.

How it works

The kit uses surface plasmon resonance (SPR) gold-nanoparticle chemistry. Aggregation triggered by bacteria in the waterline sample produces a visible color change at the 500 CFU/mL CDC action threshold.

Detection limits

  • Action threshold: 500 CFU/mL (CDC DUWL guideline)
  • Result time: 15 minutes at room temperature

Applications

  • Dental unit waterline (DUWL) compliance testing
  • Independent practices and multi-site DSOs
  • Infection-control programs
  • Pre/post-shock verification

Key features

  • Meets CDC DUWL ≤500 CFU/mL guideline
  • Aligned with ADA dental waterline guidance
  • 15-minute chairside result, no lab or incubator
  • SPR nanoparticle visual readout
  • Manufactured in Canada under ISO 9001

How it works

AquaVial Quick Check uses SPR (gold-nanoparticle aggregation) chemistry calibrated to the 500 CFU/mL CDC dental unit waterline threshold. A visible color shift in 15 minutes flags any line above guideline. Designed for chairside use without lab equipment or incubator.

1

Collect 10-20 ml sample in a clean cup and concentrate it using the sample concentration kit provided

2

add concentrated sample to the test vial

3

Wait 15 minutes at room temperature (20-25°C)

4

Read result by visible color change; act on positive results

Comparison

vs. traditional lab testing

Traditional method

Membrane filtration lab culture (ISO 9215 R2A media (7 day incubation))

Off-site, multi-day turnaround. Requires lab account, membrane filtration manifold, and qualified microbiology technician. Per-test cost from $40–$120 plus shipping.

With ExactBlue

On-site, same-day result

Chairside result vs days-long send-out lab cultures. Pass/fail at the actionable 500 CFU/mL line — no quantification needed for compliance screening.

Detection chemistry

How it detects

SPR nanoparticle

Uses surface plasmon resonance nanoparticles that change color when binding to bacterial cell-wall surface markers. Direct visual readout in 15-60 minutes.
