How rapid gold-nanoparticle testing compares

  • ExactBlue — Functionalized Gold Nanoparticles

    Result in minutes. Detects total bacteria and biofilm directly. On-site colour change with a quantitative readout on the Mobile Lab reader — no incubation or lab required.

  • HPC Paddle & Dip Tests

    24–72 hours to a result. Require incubation, count only culturable heterotrophic bacteria, and miss biofilm. Read semi-quantitatively against a comparison chart.

  • ATP Test Kits

    Fast but non-specific. Measure total ATP / organic load rather than bacteria — they can't isolate biofilm or species, and sanitizer residues can interfere with the reading.
